The Teacher Fellows Podcast

Microcredentials with Daron Kennett

Episode Summary

Daron Kennett from Davis School District joins us in this episode. Daron started out wanting to be a ski bum, but now he is a successful professional educator. Daron explains how Davis School District built a microcredential system that is available to all Utahns. This system allows educators to demonstrate their leadership, skills and knowledge through competency-based learning. Microcredentials recognize that educators are self-directed workers. They give teachers the chance to become experts in their schools and districts on a variety of subjects. If teachers are doing self-directed professional learning, it’s going to go into practice immediately, and students are going to benefit! Tune in to hear more about Utah teacher leadership microcredentials, how you can earn them, and the value they have for educators.
