Who is ready to invest in community engagement and outreach in your community? Michelle Smith is a high school teacher in the Davis School District with numerous accomplishments, including serving as an executive board member of the Davis Education Association. With 19 years of classroom experience, Michelle is a firm believer in transparency, which has earned her credibility with her students, their families, and her colleagues. There is no “dog and pony show” in her classroom. Michelle’s insights into involving real, authentic experiences for her students and bringing the community together are exceptional. Fatai Tu’ifua, also known as Ms. Fatai, is a 5th-grade teacher at East Midvale Elementary. Recently named the 2024 East Midvale Elementary Teacher of the Year, Ms. Fatai is also known as the “Home Visit Queen.” She excels in making home visits to solidify key relationships at the beginning of the year, though she understands it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Ms. Fatai believes in teachers doing what makes them feel most comfortable for community outreach and engagement, viewing these essential connections as an investment.
